Ice Age National Scenic Trail to Benefit from Book

Purchase Empowered: One Planet at a Time here from the Ice Age Trail Alliance and support the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, a 1,000 mile footpath tracing Ice Age formations across Wisconsin. More than a million people of all ages use the Ice Age Trail each year to hike, snowshoe, backpack, run, disconnect from stress, and reconnect with nature.

“My book equips readers with the tools they need to take action locally or globally on social and environmental causes they believe in. We figured: Why not put this concept into practice as a fundraiser for a cause I deeply believe in?” said author Patty Dreier, a long-time volunteer for the Ice Age Trail and President-Elect of the organization. “Essentially, this will magnify the book’s impact as we empower readers to serve causes of their own.”

The Foreword of Empowered, entitled “We Cannot Be Too Loud,” was written by Aberdeen Leary, a recent University of Wisconsin-Madison graduate who had interned for the Ice Age Trail Alliance. “She wrote a powerful call to action for her peers across the planet,” Dreier said.

The Afterword was co-written with German colleagues from the City of Wuerzburg and the University of Wuerzburg who had partnered with the author on environmental issues in Germany and Hungary.

“These times call for all of us to become involved and help bring about much-needed changes in our communities, across our country, and across the globe,” Dreier said.

Autographed soft-cover copies with a message of gratitude for supporting the Ice Age Trail sell for $20 at the Ice Age Trail Alliance’s on-line store.
